Douron constantly strives to create diverse, equitable and inclusive environments for our employees, customers and manufacturers. We understand that leveraging differences in backgrounds and experiences leads to better outcomes in our work.
Maintaining a diversified supply chain and actively expanding our supplier network through the Supplier Diversity Program has been a growing focus within the Douron team. One continuous DEI initiative is to align with manufacturers that have similar goals to integrate into the procurement process.
Within the past several years, Douron has had the privilege of collaborating on several projects at Morgan State University (MSU). We are proud to support the University’s ongoing efforts to improve diversity, equity and inclusion. Our in-house DEI officer, Paul DiNello has worked closely with our project team to ensure the value of furnishings that promote inclusivity.

A winner of multiple design awards, MSU’s Calvin & Tina Tyler Hall was designed to create a welcoming campus entry for current and prospective students. The bright and airy design helped to modernize the historic campus by bringing the University’s student services and administrative functions into a single location.
Douron provided modular lounge seating within the open floor plans, fostering collaboration. This area provides opportunities for relaxation, socialization and encouraging interaction.

Opening in 2024, MSU’s new Health and Human Services Building will provide a home for the University’s School of Community Health and Policy, which works to further DEI efforts. The new building will provide state-of-the-art classroom, office and community spaces.
Through classroom and conference room design, we are able to create an atmosphere that evokes effective communication, creativity and increased productivity. Utilizing tables and chairs that can be configured in a variety of ways can be inclusive of all learning styles. Not only is it important to account for different types of learning, but also accommodating for physical limitations with options such as height adjustable tables and desks. This offers flexibility for individuals to work effectively regardless of height restrictions. Ergonomic seating can also provide a feeling of comfort and support to each individual based on their needs.

Douron’s commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives is an integral part of our process. By providing furnishings that align with the goals of DEI initiatives, we are expressing our responsibility to both employee and student well-being and potential.
